This evening at Stanford Jennifer Wallace was talking about the archaeological imagination. [Link]

In a wonderful conversation running through the day we touched on so much of the elegiac ...

and the uncanny - the Peterhouse ghost (our college in Cambridge) - reckoned to be the wraith of a college fellow who hanged himself in 1758.

He is buried in the churchyard next to the college.
