Bucket gob.jpg

This is an auger's bucket in action. It is 4 feet high and 3 feet in diameter, with graphite steel teeth around the bottom edge. A powerful engine spins the bucket into the landfill. Then the clamshell sides collapse in onto the MSW & cover soil, bring it to the surface and drop it out in a rain of refuse. The driver's name is David Spillars -- interesting, eh! photo credit: Jim Sugar
